- The Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, for inviting Hyveth Williams to teach hermeneutics.
- Jan Paulsen, president of the General Conference, for his message of inclusiveness to the Annual Council as reported by Adventist Review in which he stated, “In God’s family, we don’t value people on the basis of wealth, position, status, education, race, gender, color of skin, language, culture, or dietary habits. There must be no sense of superiority or inferiority in any of these.” According to the Review, “In calling for the addition of more women in leadership roles, Paulsen also turned to Ellen White’s counsel from the book, Evangelism, p. 469: ‘When a great and decisive work is to be done, God chooses men and women to do this work, and it will see the loss if the talents of both are not combined.’ To those words, he added, ‘we have a large segment [of Adventists] that needs to be brought in from the cold’.” The Association of Adventist Women urges President Paulsen to work urgently toward the full implementation of his statements.
The Association of Adventist Women expresses special appreciation to:
- Spectrum and Adventist Forum for inviting AAW to participate in this celebration of their 40th anniversary.
- Brent Stanyer, Bonnie Dwyer, and Jan Malin for their planning of this conference and their open collaboration and communication with the Association of Adventist Women.
